Here is a great discussion on this very point. It's called "God's Organization - Why He quit using it" by David Reed

i was a jw for a lot of years, like many of you.
i wanted to try an experiment and try out my jw apologist chops.
since we have such a hard time finding a jw apologist that can argue well, i thought i'd give it a whirl.
Zid, I didn't answer it here because it's being discussed here: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/242251/3/Is-the-WT-the-only-true-religion

Christ Alone,
I'll dismantle you on blood. LOL
DO IT! That's what I'm looking for! It's been brought up a small bit on this thread: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/242251/3/Is-the-WT-the-only-true-religion
jehovah's witnesses do not do that!
again: jehovah's witnesses do!
jehovah's witnesses!.
In actuality there is an momentous amount of proof that the WTS. is a deviously concocted commercialized false prophet.
The Watchtower functions as a prophet in that it declares the truths from the Bible. However, it has never claimed to have the gift of prophecy. It has stated:
"We have not the gift of prophecy." - January 1883, page 425.
"Nor would we have our writings reverenced or regarded as infallible." - December 15, 1896, page 306.
"[the fact that some have Jehovah's spirit] does not mean those now serving as Jehovah's witnesses are inspired. It does not mean that the writings in this magazine, The Watchtower, are inspired and infallible and without mistakes." - May 15, 1947, page 157.
"The Watchtower does not claim to be inspired in its utterances, nor is it dogmatic." - August 15, 1950, page 263.
"The brothers preparing these publications are not infallible. Their writings are not inspired as are those of Paul and the other Bible writers. (2 Tim. 3:16) And so, at times, it has been necessary, as understanding became clearer, to correct views. (Prov. 4:18)" - February 15, 1981, page 19.
jehovah's witnesses do not do that!
again: jehovah's witnesses do!
jehovah's witnesses!.
One obvious and notable aspect of this fraud is where in the bible does it say to count how many hours and pieces of litature
were given or as it used to be sold to people at their front doors ???
We don't count our time because of any sort of biblical command. We count our time so that our fellow brothers and sisters can see how we are all united in preaching God's word to others. It also shows people of the world that we are taking our commission to go door to door seriously. This isn't an essential, and it is possible that our organization could one day cease to count the time. However, many find it faith strengthening to see how their brothers are spending over a billion hours in preaching this life giving message of truth.
jehovah's witnesses do not do that!
again: jehovah's witnesses do!
jehovah's witnesses!.
I think you should rethink your strategy... critical thinkers on this board... not blind followers...
Christ Alone:
Yes, but people usually start out as blindly following the Watchtower. After it has been "proven" that the Watchtower alone is showing true Christianity, then everything else they say is easily accepted.
Then there is the need to try and PROVE it to youself after you have been a witness for a length of time. It is here that the illusion starts to vanish if you are really using critical thinking. Even doing this experiement, I'm seeing how hard it is to stick to their line of thinking. It's so much fluff and very little substance.
But I'll get better at it. The OP is always going to be full of fluff just as a presentation is at the door. But when the deeper questions get asked, this is where cognitive dissonance comes into play. I'm already having that same old feel of cognitive dissonance and personally it is actually tough to write in this perspective. I'm not doing so well. But I'm actually appreciating the arguments that are coming up. I think that's the important part of this. What are the arguments that come up when someone takes this perspective. My replys are important, but not as important as the cognitive dissonace that should appear with the arguments of others.
jehovah's witnesses do not do that!
again: jehovah's witnesses do!
jehovah's witnesses!.
Whew! Here they come. Fresh meat for the apostates!!!
Don't you know, the Governing Body didn't come into existence until 1971.
I don't believe this has been explicitely stated. The Apostles served as the Governing Body in the 1st century. Then the great apostacy set in and true Christianity was largely missing through the ages. There were glimmers of light as individuals attempted to shine truth. Remember that the Faithful Slave is not the Governing Body UNLESS and UNTIL they are acting in their capacity to deliver food. It is only during their production of this food that the Governing Body is the Faithful Slave. It could not have been until AFTER 1919 and Jehovah's people were released from Babylonish captivity (remember that term?) that a Faithful Slave could function. So no, Russel was not the Faithful Slave. No individual was. It wasn't until this release from Christendom that the prophecy of Jesus about the Faithful Slave began to be fulfilled. Beyond that, we will have to wait for a full explanation from the Faithful Slave about this new light.
Strawman Arguement..
Blood Transfusion and Governing body are not found in the Bible..
I am a Jehovah's Witness, after all. Strawmen are my bros!
Ahem! Putting the hat back on...
The term Governing Body is not found in the Bible. But the function of a Governing Body is found. The apostles served in this function and held council under Gods spirit to determine the future of Jehovah's organization.
Ancient Egyptians knew how to transfuse blood..
Jewish people would have been aware of Blood transfusions..
The Egyptians also used excrement to treat wounds. But the scripture does not differentiate between different uses of blood. It merely says "Abstain from blood!" This was going beyond the scripture in Leviticus about eating blood. The command NOW was to abstain from all forms of blood.
Would a Christian break a Jewish law to help someone? It depends. When the arc of the covenant was about to tip over, a man reached out to steady it even though the Law stated that he could not touch it. Was he not helping the carriers of the ark? Was it ok that he broke the law even to help protect the ark and the carriers? The Law did not state, "Do not touch the ark unless it is to help another person." It was "DO NOT TOUCH THE ARK!" The Bible also does not say "Abstain from blood...unless it will save your life." It says "ABSTAIN FROM BLOOD!"
Are you a follower of Jesus..A Christian?..
Or..
A follower of the Watchtower..A WatchTard?..
The 2 are inseperable. To be a follower of Jesus is to be a follower of the Watchtower and all that that entails.
jehovah's witnesses do not do that!
again: jehovah's witnesses do!
jehovah's witnesses!.
Answer me this, then, Outlaw. If it was strictly a Jewish law, then why, after the Mosaic law was fulfilled, did the Governing Body in Jerusalem continue to forbid the misuse of blod in Acts 15?
jehovah's witnesses do not do that!
again: jehovah's witnesses do!
jehovah's witnesses!.
Your loss, wha happened! It contains some happifying life giving truths!

Yes, but it was still a board of directing men that functioned to direct Jehovah's organization. The title may have changed. But most of the men that were on the board of directors also became members of the Governing Body.
Let me use this analogy. In 1941 Carl N Karcher opened his first restaurant "Carl's Drive in Barbeque". In 1954l the name was changed to Carl's Jr. Now if there was an employee that began his work at Carls Drive in, could he, 30 years later say "I have worked for Carl's Jr for over 30 years? Technically he did NOT work for Carl's JR for 30 years. Technically he only worked for Carl's Jr since 1954.
